Weekender

Jacket: McGinn  Blouse: Vince  Jeans: Paige  Purse: Chanel  Shoes: Stuart Weitzman  Sunglasses: Dior

I love weekends! I love spending time with friends, sleeping in, dressing up, and going out. My weekend wardrobe really varies based on my plans. My outfits range from lounge wear to party clothes. Over the years I've found an outfit that works for most weekend events is the polished casual look. This usually consists of skinny jeans, a blouse, fitted jacket, and heels or dressy sandals. Weekend wear is all about comfort and versatility whether you're brunching, shopping, or strolling. Make sure your outfit is ready for whatever you are!

Workout Wear

First Look: Bathing Suit: VIX  Cover Up: Make+Model  Necklace: Handmade  Sunglasses: Ray Ban
Second Look: Pants: Zella  Tank: Champion  Jacket: Zella  Shoes: Nike  Sunglasses: Ray Ban

Workout wear has gotten increasingly chic in recent years. With great pieces from Lulu Lemon, Nike, Zella, and may more it is no surprise that women have never looked better when they're breaking a sweat. I recently got the chance to try two workouts I had heard great things about, paddle boarding and trapeze.

For paddle boarding all you need is a bathing suit and a cover up. I love any sport on the water especially one where you don't even have to get your hair wet. It's great for working on your balance and toning your arms for those summer tanks and sleeveless dresses. For the trapeze they request that you wear tight workout clothes due to all of the upside down movements. I absolutely loved soaring above the Santa Monica Pier with the Trapeze School New York. I don't think you can find a more exciting workout than this. It really works your abs, legs, and arms!

There are so many options today for extraordinary workouts and great outfits to accompany them. Nothing is more inspiring than having a cute workout outfit to wear. So toss the sweats, say hello to the new age of workout wear, and find a sport that really gets your heart racing!

Seafaring Style

Demin Shirt: Caslon  Striped Shirt: Pull and Bear  Skirt: Devlin  Sunglasses: Ray Ban
Tote: Ross  Sandals: Dolce Vita  Jewelry: J Crew, Michael Kors, & Tasha

There's nothing better than a day at sea. It's a wonderful feeling to be cruising through the waves, wind in your hair, and the sunshine sparkling on the water. I also happen to love nautical inspired clothing. I have a very serious collection of striped shirts, scarves, and even purses. There is something so classic and carefree about nautical-inspired clothes. I have never cared much for prints, but I think stripes are a good alternative. On the right article of clothing and in the right proportions they can give any look that extra something. With summer right around the corner it's the perfect time to pick up a couple seafaring items for your summer wardrobe. Whether it's top-siders, a boat-neck top, or white pants, you'll be looking nautical in no time.

Tea Time

Dress: Diane Von Furstenberg  Hat: Scala Necklace: Banana Republic
Sunglassas: Christian Dior  Clutch: YSL

Some of my favorite childhood memories involve having tea. I absolutely loved getting dressed up, putting on a giant hat, and holding a delicate porcelain cup full of tea. To this day I still love a good tea party. For an event that's so feminine and fun I wore a Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress, my favorite oversized hat, and strings of pearls secured by a jeweled brooch. Fashion should always been fun at an event like a tea party. Throw on your most glamorous hat, statement jewelry, and top if off with some old Hollywood sunglasses or bright colored lips to make your tea time fashion time.

Bohemian Style

Shirt: Vince  Vest: Premise  Shorts: Joe's  Shoes: Unlisted  Sunglasses: Ray Ban
Watch: Michael Kors  Necklaces: Nordstrom  Ring: Vintage

My style tends to be pretty conservative, but sometimes I just want to put flowers in my hair and throw on some jean shorts. There is something so refreshing about the bohemian style. I tend to go for more classic pieces, but sometime's it's fun to play with layering and accessories. Lately I've been drawn to really oversized pieces, like this flowy Vince top and my favorite draped vest. I had a lot of fun experimenting with this style and getting to try out some new accessories. For jewelry I really love big statement pieces like men's watches, chunky rock rings, and long gold necklaces. Take a look at your closet and try layering some pieces you normally wouldn't think go together. It's a great way to reinvent your wardrobe and create new looks.

Garden Party

Dress: Malloy  Vest: Willow & Clay  Hat: F21  Shoes: Jessica Simpson
Necklace: F21  Sunglasses: Michael Kors  Purse: Louis Vuitton

I love spending time outdoors, especially when the weather is agreeable. I recently spent some time strolling through a beautiful garden and had forgotten how wonderful it is to be amongst the flowers and the sunshine. I am normally a very dressy girl, but on this laid back Sunday I decided to go a little more casual. I opted for a grey cotton dress with an undecided hem, my new extra-long military green vest, gold sandals, and a floppy hat. On my more casual weekend outings I always grab my Louis Vuitton Neverfull because it can fit absolutely everything and is so durable I never have to worry about it. With the warmer weather and spring in the air it's been nice to leave the heels in my closet and go for fashionable comfort. Here's to casual Sundays and taking time to smell the flowers.

Sequins and Stilettos

Dress: Madison Marcus Shoes: Sam Edelman  Clutch: Sondra Roberts  Polish: Honk If You Love OPI

Getting ready for a night out is one of my favorite things to do. I am a girl who loves fashion, makeup, and grooming. Nothing makes me feel better than a flattering black dress, heels, and a little sparkle. Here are a few of my absolute musts when getting ready for a night out:
  • Give yourself enough time to get ready. Nothing is worse than rushing to straighten your hair or putting on liquid eyeliner. If you are really in a bind throw your hair up in a high bun and use a bright red or fuchsia for your lips.
  • Before you start your makeup routine make sure to exfoliate. I love using products, like Allison Rhonda's brightening scrub, that make your skin glow before you even put a drop of makeup on. Also make sure to moisturize with a great cream and let your primer sit for about 5 minutes before applying foundation.
  • When curling or straightening hair make sure to use a heat guard and afterwards run a shine serum like Fekkai Color-Protecting Glaze through the ends.
  • Make sure nails are neat and polished. If you don't have the time, just buff your nails and apply one coat of clear polish.
  • It's always ideal to have your outfit picked out ahead of time, but if you can't go for your favorites. I always tend to opt for black shifts, embellished tops, and sleek fitted pants.
  • In your clutch don't forget lip gloss, mints, pressed powder, a comb, and travel sized perfume.
Wherever you go or whoever you're going out with your night is guaranteed to be better when you're loving the way you look!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Top: Vince  Jacket: Mural  Shorts: Vince Camuto  Sunglasses: Ray Ban

Springtime means flowers, more sunshine, and of course the start of baseball season! I grew up loving baseball and going to games still reminds me of my childhood. I take a trip every year to spring training in Arizona. After going to a lot of baseball games in my lifetime here are my fool proof tips for going to a ball game:

  • Make sure to wear your team's colors. Show off your pride and it will let your fellow fans know you're on their side.
  • During those hot day games opt for dresses and shorts. Keep it casual and fun. You're going to be sitting in dusty fold down chairs so no white and don't wear anything you don't want getting a little dirty.
  • If you take a purse make sure it's small so you can hold it on your lap. I can't tell you how many times I have had drinks knocked over onto my nice purses. Don't make that mistake.
  • Grab some great shades to scout out the players without having the sun in your eyes.
  • Wear comfortable shoes you can walk in like cute sandals, wedges, or converse.

I hope you all make it to at least one game this season and have fun cheering on your team!

Spring Showers

Dress: Diane Von Furstenberg  Shoes: Stuart Weitzman  Earrings: Nadri

Spring is such an amazing time of year. I can't help but enjoy the warmer weather, blossoming flowers, and more occasions to wear dresses! Spring presents the perfect opportunity for trying new things with your wardrobe. It's time to ditch the heavy knits and coats and embrace bright colors and lightweight fabrics. Break out the shorts, wedges, and cropped jackets! When shopping for new pieces look for fun prints, textures, and shapes. The greatest thing about fashion is that there is something for everyone and every season. Experiment with colors, styles, and trends to find the looks that make you feel your best this spring. Never forget to wear a smile and if anyone tries to rain on your fashion parade just grab a cute umbrella!

Sweetheart Style

Dress: KARTA  Shoes: Nine West  Bracelet: Tasha

This Valentine's Day represents a big milestone for me. One year ago today I began Style Occasion! I have learned a lot writing this blog and couldn't be happier with what it has turned into. I can't thank you all enough for the support and kind words you've shared with me this last year. I'm looking forward to all the new posts, new looks, and new adventures that are on the horizon!

For my Valentine look this year I chose one of my absolute favorite dresses. I call it my Barbie dress because it is the most amazing shade of hot pink and has jewels encrusted down the front. This is one of those pieces that I put on and always know I'm going to have a great time. Since the dress was so bold on it's own I chose to pair it with flesh-tone heels and a sparkly bracelet. Your Valentine's outfit should be festive and fun. I always recommend sticking with the holiday colors of pink and red, since they look good on everyone, and wearing something that fits your plans. Whether you're hanging out with your friends or going on a special date, feeling good is the most important thing. So throw on a colorful dress, add a bright lip, and some fun heels to make the night special.

Wishing You the Most Fabulous Valentine's Day!
