Sweetheart Style

Dress: KARTA  Shoes: Nine West  Bracelet: Tasha

This Valentine's Day represents a big milestone for me. One year ago today I began Style Occasion! I have learned a lot writing this blog and couldn't be happier with what it has turned into. I can't thank you all enough for the support and kind words you've shared with me this last year. I'm looking forward to all the new posts, new looks, and new adventures that are on the horizon!

For my Valentine look this year I chose one of my absolute favorite dresses. I call it my Barbie dress because it is the most amazing shade of hot pink and has jewels encrusted down the front. This is one of those pieces that I put on and always know I'm going to have a great time. Since the dress was so bold on it's own I chose to pair it with flesh-tone heels and a sparkly bracelet. Your Valentine's outfit should be festive and fun. I always recommend sticking with the holiday colors of pink and red, since they look good on everyone, and wearing something that fits your plans. Whether you're hanging out with your friends or going on a special date, feeling good is the most important thing. So throw on a colorful dress, add a bright lip, and some fun heels to make the night special.

Wishing You the Most Fabulous Valentine's Day!

Valentine Dessert Party

I absolutely love Valentine's Day! I love wearing pink, eating sweets, and spending the day reminding people how much I love them. This year I decided to throw a little dessert party for my girlfriends to celebrate the occasion. A dessert party is all about having fun with your food, so I decided to do all the baking beforehand and present the girls with all the sweets ready to be decorated.

I made red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, sweetheart cakes, pink and white cookies, and chocolate-covered strawberries. For decorating I set up my kitchen table with bowls of frosting, sprinkles, candies, hot pink chocolate lips, and decorative features, like mustache inserts.  There is no end to people's creativity with decorating, so it is great to supply a variety of decorative items for guests to use.

With the decor I went with a red and pink theme, of course! I used red and silver tablecloths layered together and topped with fresh colorful flowers, white dishes full of candies, tea lights in crystal containers, heart-shaped balloons, and scattered glittering hearts. For drinks I served up rosé, red wine, and pink lemonade in pink sugar-rimmed glasses. At the end of the party I handed out Valentine gift bags and sent everyone home with boxes filled with the treats they made. It was just the fun, sugar-filled night I was hoping for!

Valentine's Day is just around the corner so be sure to check back on February 14th to see my Valentine outfit post and the One Year Anniversary of Style Occasion!

Pool Party

Cover Up: Make + Model  Bathing Suit: Vix  Bangle: Banana Republic
Sandals: Dolce Vita  Sunglasses: Vintage

There are two things I believe in: fashion and fun. When I find an event that combines those two things I'm in heaven. On a gorgeous So-Cal Sunday, in January, I was able to have an impromptu pool party complete with a giant human-sized bubble. I got in and tried not to fall all over the place, which is not an easy feat. Sometimes you just have to push yourself and your sense of fashion and try something new. For the pool party I went with a lace fringe cover up complete with giant bangle and my favorite Vix bathing suit. I normally don't go for patterns, fringe, or neon orange sunglasses for that matter, but it felt really fun to try something new while wearing something I wouldn't normally wear. Fashion should always be fun. Don't forget to step outside your bubble and try something new!
