Summer is the perfect time for going on vacation. The weather is warm, the beaches are beautiful, and you don't have to be bundled up in layers of clothes. If you're planning a vacation this summer remember to keep it simple in terms of clothes. In order to pack less take pieces that work into more than one outfit. Neutral cotton or jersey dresses are great because they can be dressed up or down with varying shoes and accessories. A couple tanks, shorts, and one pair of pants are easy to throw in too. Depending on where your trip takes you pack accordingly with hats, bikinis, cover ups, and oversized sunglasses. The only shoes you really need for a summer vacation are sandals, comfortable ballet flats, one pair of neutral heels, and maybe tennis shoes if you're planning on doing some outdoor activities. In terms of purses you'll only need your every day bag, preferably a crossbody to keep your hands free, and a clutch for going out at night. Make sure to take lots of pictures to remember your trip and how fabulous you looked in all your outfits! Happy travels!

Graduations have been occurring just about everywhere you look this month. They present perfect occasions to wear some fun summer outfits. I attended a graduation recently, which took place on a football field. After attending quite a few graduation ceremonies on grass I have realized that the best shoes to wear are wedges. Wedge heels don't sink into the grass and prevent you from making any embarrassing spills you might have with regular heels. Casual, but conservative, dresses are always a good way to go for a graduation. They are informal enough for a daytime graduation, yet transfer well into an after party. It also can get incredibly hot at graduations depending on the location and time of the ceremony so a dress will be sure to keep you cool. Make sure to bring some big sunglasses and a small purse that won't take up too much room on the bleachers. Congratulations to all the graduates of 2012!

I'm back on Style Occasion and couldn't be happier! Thank you to all my friends and followers for the continued support. I love bright colored dresses for summer and when I found this Diane von Furstenberg dress, in the color aptly named blue jay, I knew I had to have it. I've noticed when I wear bright colors it always puts me in a great mood and I manage to receive a little extra attention. I paired the dress with my classic Stuart Weitzman peep toe pumps and Ray Ban wayfarers. I threw in a black beaded necklace and a great hot pink nail polish to complement the bright blue of the dress. Try some color in your closet this summer and remember everyone loves a comeback.
